Are You a Project?

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008
We don't know how long we will live, but the capacity for change is a vital resilience skill. People, who have survived severe illnesses talk about how they have changed, healed, essentially transformed into a new space of being. Their survival is an expression of the promise to themselves to not live as a 'short-term' project.

Overcoming Buffaloes At Work & In Life

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008
How to increase productivity and overcome the challenges in the workplace. Offshore sourcing or jobs made obsolete by bad economy, declining product prices, war uncertainty, and competition with international businesses that are subsidized by their governments. It seems like both employers and employees can no longer accurately anticipate these changes before they occur. Such unexpected changes could be compared to the appearance of water buffaloes in an African village. Buffaloes invaded villages without warning, devastating social structures, uprooting the harmonious livelihood of villagers and left them feeling insecure and stressed out. This is a confounding situation. Bad for employers because employees optimal performance requires secure job environment and stress related illnesses may lead to increased absenteeism. Employees, on the other hand, need great performance to be marketable and keep their organization profitable. What can be done to overcome these "social Buffaloes" in the workplace? Organizations, private or public, won't revert to the old womb-to-tomb job security. Job availability and longevity will continue to be dictated by factors beyond the workers and even employer's control. The resume that got you where you are probably won't keep you there beyond the foreseeable future.

Motivation For Weight Loss That Feeds The Soul and Keeps the Weight Dropping Off

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008
Weight Loss Motivation can so easily be destroyed by the negativity that dominates a dieters mindset. Like a drug, the first 'fix' of negativity has us looking for more and more negativity. We become trapped until we make the choice to seek a way out. For a long time I struggled to get out of these traps by doing something self-loving that was not linked to food. This was a good first step but it was still hard to make the changes in my habits.

"They say you just stand over there, he'll say thank you and you walk back off and that's what I thought was gonna happen, but in my head, I had for five or six years known that he was gonna call me over."

John F. Kennedy
